National Police Woman Day is recognized every September 12th, and we have a message for the 11 amazing women who serve as Tigard Police Officers and Detectives. With 70 sworn officers, that means women make up more than 15% of our police force - which is one of the highest percentages in the State of Oregon. We want that number to continue to grow! Multiple DUII Arrests Made During Recent High Visibility Enforcement Safety Campaign

During the holidays, Tigard Police participated in a grant-funded High Visibility Enforcement campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, offered by Oregon Impact, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The funding allowed Tigard Officers to work overtime, focusing primarily on impaired and unsafe driving. Officers on this detail arrested four drivers for DUII and issued eleven citations and warnings for other violations.

Beaverton Fatal Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Tigard

On December 18, 2019, a tragic incident that began at approximately 11:00 a.m. in Beaverton, soon after impacted the Tigard community. A suspect allegedly connected to multiple stabbings at a Beaverton bank, one fatal, continued a path of crime into Tigard that ultimately sent a woman to the hospital with stab wounds.

At 12:30pm on August 20, 2019, Tigard Police received a report alleging that a 6’ feet tall, skinny, white adult male with black dreadlocks, a white tank top, and blue jeans randomly pointed a gun at a juvenile male near the area of Fowler Middle School/Fanno Creek Trail. The victim reportedly ran away to safety while the male subject was last seen running from the baseball field toward the woods behind Fowler.
Tigard Police and partners did a complete and thorough search of the paths, trails, and area attempting to locate the individual, but did not find the subject or any other witnesses. No other persons have reported similar incidents regarding this individual. Officers have stopped the search of the area.

Retired Tigard Police K-9 Baxter Passes Away

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of retired Tigard Police K-9 Baxter. He died peacefully at 10:00am this morning with his favorite Kong toy still in his mouth, surrounded by loved ones. Baxter served Tigard Police faithfully for eight years and transitioned to a beloved pet with his handler Sergeant Odam and his family.

Tigard Police Participate in Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign

From May 20, 2019 to June 2, 2019, the Tigard Police Department (TPD) is participating in a national seat-belt enforcement campaign. This annual campaign is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement effort. The intent of Click It or Ticket is to save lives. In 2017, there were 10,076 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in the United States.
Tigard Police and Partners Arrest Five People Associated with Scams

On 5/14/19, Tigard Police along with federal and local law enforcement agencies served multiple search warrants at various locations in Clackamas and Washington Counties. The search warrants related to ongoing criminal activity where scammers operating out of the country demanded payment by Apple gift cards while criminal intermediaries located in the Portland metro-area quickly used the funds at stores in the Portland metro-area, specifically in Tigard. Five people, operating as intermediaries, were arrested in connection with the 5/14/19 search warrant.
Tigard Police Arrest New York Man for Aggravated Theft I

On 5/6/19, Tigard Police Commercial Crimes Unit (CCU) Detectives arrested a 25-year old man from New York on an Aggravated Theft I charge involving the alleged purchase of over $33,000 worth of merchandise for approximately $1,100 using forged barcodes. He is currently lodged in the Washington County Jail.
Tigard Police Department Receives State-Wide Law Enforcement Accreditation

Effective April 30, 2019, the Tigard Police Department (TPD) has been certified as a state-accredited law enforcement agency by the Oregon Accreditation Alliance (OAA). Currently, 49 of 211 Oregon law enforcement agencies share this status.
Officers Arrest Suspects Following a Shooting

On Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 2:40am, police received a call from a woman reporting that a male and female suspect were following her vehicle and shooting at her and the other occupant as they were travelling near SW Nimbus and Scholls Ferry. Officers arrested a 34-year-old Wilsonville woman for Assault I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Attempted Murder related to the shooting.
Two Suspects Arrested for a Robbery in a Shopping Center

On Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1:27 pm, Tigard Police officers were dispatched to the 9200 block of SW Washington Square Road on a report of a strong-arm robbery. An elderly couple were walking to their vehicle in the mall parking lot when two male juvenile suspects allegedly approached them and grabbed their two Apple laptop computers.
Tigard Police and TVF&R Investigate a Commercial Structure Fire

At 3:10 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and Tigard Police were dispatched to a fire at 12555 SW Hall Blvd, a commercial office building in Tigard. Based on the evidence at the scene, Tigard Police detectives are currently working with TVF&R on a criminal investigation.

Tigard Police are asking for help identifying and locating a suspect who allegedly robbed a Tigard Wells Fargo on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. The bank is located at 9200 SW Washington Square Rd in Tigard. At approximately 3:45 pm, a 9-1-1 call alerted police of the robbery who then quickly set up containment and searched the area. The suspect remains at large.
DUII HVE Safety Campaign for St. Patrick's Day Weekend Yields An Arrest

The most recent High Visibility Enforcement Campaign (HVE) was conducted during the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day weekend and yielded one DUII arrest. One patrol officer, working six hours on this detail, arrested a driver for DUII and issued seven other warnings and citations.
Multiple Vehicle Crash on Saturday, March 16th

Around 4:40 pm on Saturday, 3/16/19, police responded to a call about a gray Honda Civic traveling southbound on SW Greenburg Rd that left the roadway at the on-ramp to northbound Highway 217. The vehicle reportedly hit a large ODOT sign, went down the embankment, and spun out on the center of the highway, crashing into two vehicles. The male subject exited the vehicle and began running along the highway.

Tigard Police Investigate a Possible Threat to Tigard High

Parents called Tigard Police about a possible threat of violence by a former Tigard High school student. The concern originated from a social media post and rumors spread quickly about threats of violence to the school. Officers responded and have fully investigated the social media post that prompted the concern. After interviewing the former student and his parents, Tigard Police concluded that no threat of harm to Tigard High School exists.
Woman Struck by WES Train in Tigard Tuesday Evening

On Tuesday, February 19th at 5:48pm, Tigard Police officers responded to a report of a collision between a WES Commuter Rail train, heading southbound toward the Tigard Transit Center, and a woman reportedly walking along the train tracks. The woman sustained injuries from the collision and was transported to OHSU. Tigard police assisted Transit Police and medical personnel at the scene.

In cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tigard Police will be participating in a grant-funded program to promote high visibility enforcement (HVE). Last year, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired crashes - one every 51 minutes. Avoid the fines and potential for car crashes by planning ahead if you are driving and consuming alcohol or other intoxicants.
Tigard Set To Begin Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign

Beginning February 4th through February 17th, Tigard Police will participate in a nationwide traffic safety campaign to enforce Oregon seat belt laws. This effort is made possible through federal funding, which provides overtime opportunities for this campaign. Recent statistics indicated that Tigard motorists demonstrated nearly 97% compliance regarding passenger vehicle seat belt usage for front-seated occupants. However, the lack of seat belt use was a major factor in half of all motor vehicle fatalities in Oregon during recent years.
Multiple DUII Arrests Made During Recent High Visibility Enforcement Safety Campaign

During the most recent High Visibility Enforcement Campaign (HVE) which began on December 14th and ended January 2, 2019; nine drivers were arrested for DUII. Also, during the two-week long safety campaign, Tigard Police initiated 37 additional motorist contacts resulting in the issuance of a citation or warning for other violations including speeding and driving while suspended.
Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle While Crossing Hall Boulevard

Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, December 17, a pedestrian attempting to cross Hall Boulevard in Tigard was struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred in the area of a Fanno Creek Trail pedestrian crossing spanning Hall Boulevard, just south of Tigard City Hall. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to OHSU. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Tigard Homeowner Confronts and Shoots Intruder

At approximately 7:15 a.m. on November 14, a 9-1-1 call alerted Tigard Police that an intruder was attempting entry into a residence located at 11075 SW Sage Terrace in Tigard. The caller advised the police dispatcher that he confronted the suspect and a gun was discharged. Tigard Police were on-scene within minutes.

Pedestrian Fatality In Tigard
(July 25, 2018)
On Wednesday, July 25, a semi-truck fatally hit a 32 year-old man seated in a wheelchair, as he attempted to cross Pacific Highway. The crash occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. Tigard Police and the Washington County CART (Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team) were called to the scene on the 13700 block of SW Pacific Highway.
Convenience Store Employee Assaulted During Robbery
(July 16, 2018)
Shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16, Tigard Police were called to the Plaid Pantry convenience store located at 15995 SW Hall Blvd in Tigard. An injured employee called and reported he was allegedly beaten with a gun during a robbery attempt. The victim further added after unsuccessfully obtaining any money or otherwise, the suspect fled on foot into the neighborhood.
Series of Tigard Burglaries Ends With Arrest

Tigard Police arrested a 55 year-old man earlier today allegedly responsible for a series of burglaries in Tigard. The suspect, Ronald Lee Dickinson, had been originally contacted by Tigard Police on July 1 for an unrelated harassment investigation. During an interview, Tigard investigators developed information that implicated Dickinson for eight residential burglaries. All but one burglary occurred in Tigard.

Tigard Police Commercial Crimes Unit Shuts Down Counterfeit Check Cashing Scheme

On April 11, detectives assigned to the Tigard Police Commercial Crimes Unit arrested three suspects who appeared to be part of a counterfeit check-cashing operation stemming from Georgia. The investigation began the day prior when a Tigard Umpqua Bank employee contacted Tigard Police to advise that a subject currently inside the bank was attempting to cash a counterfeit check. A Tigard Police officer quickly arrived at the bank and arrested the suspect.
Prostitution Crackdown in Tigard

On March 22, the Tigard Police Commercial Crimes Unit conducted an operation to target and arrest prostitution customers or "johns." As a result, four adult males were taken into custody and charged with Commercial Sexual Solicitation.
Tigard Police Continue High Visibility Enforcement

During the most recent High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) campaign that took place March 16th through the 17th., Tigard Police arrested two drivers for DUII. Off-Duty Tigard Police Officer Suspected of Driving While Under the Influence

While off-duty, a member of the Tigard Police Department was arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The arrest was made by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. Ron Wommack, an 18-year veteran with the agency, has been placed on administrative leave.
Former Tigard High School Educator and Coach Charged With Alleged Sex Abuse

On February 1, a former Tigard High School Teacher and Coach was arrested by Tigard Police on sex abuse charges. Marcus D. Jolley, 40, was taken into custody by Tigard Police detectives at his home without incident. Jolley was the center of an in-depth investigation after a former Tigard High School student disclosed the alleged sex abuse to a Tigard Police School Resource Officer.

An employee of the Astro Gas Station located at 12885 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, reported being robbed by an armed man. The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 30 at approximately 11:30 p.m. The victim stated that while standing inside the outdoor kiosk, the suspect approached on foot.

On Thursday, January 11, a parent reported to Tigard Police that her child was approached by a stranger while walking home from school. The incident occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. in the vicinity of 93rd and Inez St. in Tigard, just blocks away from Templeton Elementary School.
