Solar PV in Tigard
Getting Started with Solar in Tigard
The City of Tigard encourages solar energy investments in our community. Solar energy uses a renewable energy source and provides many benefits for individuals and the community. Solar panels improve environmental quality by reducing carbon emissions and air pollution, supports local solar companies in Oregon https://www.seia.org/states-map, creates local jobs, saves money on energy costs, and improves electric grid resilience during peak demand and other stresses to the system.
Tigard’s Solar Goal: Tigard’s Climate Resiliency Plan includes a recommendation to deploy 160MW of distributed renewable energy resources within the city toward meeting a net zero GHG emission reduction target by 2050.
This webpage provides a collection of solar resources for the community. Tigard’s community’s solar goals can be found in the City’s solar statement. For more information about the basics of solar energy, your solar options, and questions to ask solar professionals, read the Residential Consumer Guide to Solar Power and visit the Department of Energy’s Homeowner’s Guide to Going Solar.
