The City is working to make downtown a place where people want to be. With new residents, businesses and development in downtown there is a higher customer demand for on-street parking.

Q: Are there plans to add more parking in Downtown?  
A: About 80% of parking on main St. and Downtown is privately owned which makes adding additional parking difficult.

Q: How many private parking spots are there in Downtown?  
A: There are approximately 2132 private parking spaces owned by retailers, local businesses, and the City of Tigard (City Hall and Public Works parking lots).  

Parking Enforcement

Q: Are there time restrictions on when parking is enforced? 
A: Signed and permit parking spots are enforced weekdays from 8 AM to 6 PM.  

Q: Who enforces parking within the City of Tigard?  
A:  Most of the parking enforcement duties, especially in the case of timed parking enforcement, are the responsibility of the Tigard Police Department’s Community Service Officers.   

Q: What does a written warning mean?   
A:  Warnings serve as an official advisory that you were parked in violation.  No further action is required. 

Q: How much are violation fines?   
A: As of July 1, 2022 the fee schedule is as follows:

• Overtime Parking Violation:  $55
• Unlawful use of a space for persons with disabilities:   $165
• All other Parking Violations:   $55

Q: How do I pay or dispute a parking ticket?   
A:  Information on how to pay or dispute a parking ticket can be found on all issued parking tickets. Contact the Tigard Municipal Court located at 13125 SW Hall Blvd. in Tigard, OR 97223.  Open hours are Monday–Thursday: 8 AM to 6 PM.  

Q:  How do I report Traffic and Abandoned Vehicle Concerns? 
A:  Notice a safe streets-related issue? Please let us know. When you report a concern, it will be assigned to a Tigard Police Officer or the City of Tigard Traffic Engineer, depending on the nature of the issue. Each incident will be addressed as soon as workloads allow.

You can check the status of your report on the app. Your name will not be displayed in any of the public applications; however, information is subject to public records law.

Parking Permits

Q: Are parking permits available?    
A: Parking permits are currently under consideration. A new parking study was conducted in October of 2021. Study recommendations will be available in the next few months.

Staff is looking into the feasibility of offering parking permits to be made available for purchase. If made available, parking permits would allow all-day parking in specific areas only.
