Fleet Electrification Underway: Under direction of City Council, Team Tigard is developing a pilot program to add electric vehicles to its fleets. The City has so far procured two electric vehicles, replacing two gas-powered vehicles from our fleet. Due to supply chain impacts, Tigard is still on the waitlist for six more electric vehicles. The team will continue to substitute electric for gas-powered vehicles as older cars age out of our system and where electric vehicles make sense for their function.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: The City has installed a public EV charging station with 10 ports at the corner of Burnham and Hall.  The chargers are level II and the rate is $.39kw. This is the same rate as the Blink chargers the city has installed at the Burnham parking lot, the Niche (adjacent to the new chargers) Senior Center, and Public Works.

City of Tigard proclaims April 22, 2023, Earth Day: The City of Tigard Mayor, Heidi Lueb, proclaimed April 22, 2023, as Earth Day.  The Mayor encourages all residents and businesses in Tigard to take action to protect and preserve our planet.

City of Tigard makes e-bikes available for lower income residents: The City of Tigard was awarded a $105,800 grant from Portland General Electric’s Drive Change Fund to support the purchase and deployment of ebikes at two multi-family affordable housing facilities in Tigard neighborhoods. The City of Tigard awarded Eco-Biz Certification

The City of Tigard has been working with Pollution Prevention Resource Center since 2015 and in 2016 the city was awarded Eco-Biz certification for our Fleet and Public Works facility. The certification awards businesses and municipalities that utilize, enhance and promote environmentally best practices in their respective operations.

The city’s partnership with Eco-Biz has benefitted the city in a variety of ways. The expertise that Eco-Biz has brought to the City of Tigard has helped the city to Identify and eliminate products that are hazardous to the environment and replace them with sustainable and equally effective products, this was a long-lasting way to create more sustainable resiliency for city operations. Another benefit to the partnership is the ability to network with accredited Eco-Biz businesses that provide supplies and services to help the city stay on course with our sustainability goals. Working together with Eco-Biz and gaining recertification provides another layer of support and oversight that allows the City of Tigard to maintain our commitment to our continuous goal of providing a cleaner, greener and healthier environment for our employees and especially for the citizens of Tigard which we are proud to serve.
