Proclamations are an opportunity for the Mayor to recognize a day, week, or month in honor of a cause, person or group, or occasion that has significance to the Tigard community.

Anyone may request a proclamation by completing the form below. It is preferred that requests are submitted four weeks prior to the requested proclamation date.

Submitting a request does not guarantee a proclamation will occur. Proclamations are at the discretion of the Mayor who reserves the right to approve, edit, or deny any request. Proclamations should not set the policy direction of council.

What you need to submit a request:

  • Title of the proclamation
  • Proposed proclamation language: 4-6 one-sentence statements describing the importance, relevance, history, and benefits of the proclamation to the Tigard community.
  • The dates of an event or council meeting (only if you would like the Mayor to publicly recognize the proclamation).
