Trail Segments Description

Trail Segment #1:Tigard Triangle
The main route will run with the Red Rock Creek greenway and travel through the developing Tigard Triangle, a 500-acre mixed use district surrounded by Hwy 217, Interstate 5, and Hwy 99. This segment will provide active transportation connectivity within the district and enhance access to nature and open space by including meaningful points of interest at interpretative viewpoints. Portions of this trail segment are in design development as part of the City’s RRC Stabilization and Enhancement Project, a regional stormwater management project.

The trail will leave the Tigard Triangle in the vicinity of Walmart on a pedestrian/bike bridge crossing HWY 217 landing in the Hunziker Industrial Area connecting to Hunziker Road. The city, in partnership with Trimet, included this trail segment with the elevated guideway design as part of the Southwest Corridor light rail project that would connect the Elmhurst Station at 72nd with Hall Blvd station at Hunziker. The current Alignment Study will consider an alternative greenway trail crossing of Hwy 217. The city is working with TriMet on the Southwest Corridor Project on this segment of the alignment.

Trail Segment #3: Hunziker Core Industrial Area
Ramping down from the Hwy 217 crossing structure, the trail will follow Red Rock Creek where possible through the industrial area and provide access to Potso Dog Park as well as the new workforce housing Fields Apartments on Wall Street before crossing the railroad switching yard on a ped/bike bridge toward downtown.

Trail Segment #4:Multi-use path over railroad connecting to Fanno Creek Trail 
Segment 4 of the trail will cross over the railroad tracks on an elevated structure for bikes and pedestrians connecting this trail with the Fanno Creek Regional Trail System, Brown Natural Area, Tigard Public Library, and Downtown.

An Alternatives Analysis Report for the proposed bridge and approaches was funded by the Fields Apartments developer, DBG Properties, LLC. In addition, a public access easement for the bridgehead has been granted by the adjacent property owner fronting Wall Street. Through a public private partnership, the City will be applying for construction funding to build the bridge.
