Volunteering at the Library is not just about giving back; it's about joining a diverse and talented team and making lasting connections. 

The Tigard Public Library is accepting new volunteers over the age of 18 for the following opportunities:

  • Shelf-readers for the Materials Management Task Force
  • Cart-sorters & shelvers Monday through Thursday for one or two-hour shifts between 12 PM-7 PM
  • Holds-area shelvers & auditors every day between 11 AM-1 PM

When can I expect to hear back on my application? 
If you have not received a response to your submission after a week, please email us to check the status.

What are the next steps after my application? 
All new volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training sessions for their selected assignments before signing up for any shifts.  

When are the volunteer orientations? 
We have quarterly orientations; the next series will be in January 2025.

Does the Tigard Public Library accept community service volunteers?    
We currently have no community service opportunities.

Does the Tigard Public Library accept teen volunteers?  
Yes, we accept teens aged 12 and over as part of our teen program. Teen Library Council meets year-round. Contact Teen Librarian Lisa Elliott or check our calendar for details about the next meeting. Registration for our Summer Teen Program opens in May each year.
