Is your child ready to stay home alone? Tigard Police is hosting "I Can Do This!", a home safety class for children aged 8 to 11 years old. Parents (or a responsible adult) will join the kids for a 30 minute overview near the end of the class.
The purpose of this class is to provide children ages 8–11 with tools to stay safe at home when unsupervised. Children will learn about indoor and outdoor safety, first aid, emergency situations and much more. This knowledge will help parents feel at ease when work schedules conflict with non-school days. It also provides better safety measures whenever children are in a home, including watching out for siblings.
Date: Saturday, August 26, 2023
Time: 9:00AM to 11:00AM (parents/adults join the class at 10:30AM)
Location: Tigard City Hall (13125 SW Hall Blvd)
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Spots are limited and this class will fill quickly.
Please register your child through our online form.
Note that you may only register one child per form. Due to high demand for this class, we will be unable to accommodate additional children the day of the event (such as siblings of registered kids) who were not registered and confirmed. To participate, child must live in Tigard.
More information will be available in registration confirmation emails, including information about check in, what to bring and more. Confirmation or waitlist emails will be sent out no later than August 18.
Please email Police Community Engagement Coordinator Maddie Bauer at maddie.bauer@tigard-or.gov if you have any questions or would like to request an accommodation for a disability. Thank you!
