Hit and Run in Tigard - Pedestrian Struck While In Crosswalk Tigard Police arrested a 55 year-old Portland man after the vehicle he was driving struck a man while in a crosswalk. The incident occurred December 2, 2011 at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Pacific Highway and 72nd Ave. in Tigard. According to witness statements, the 53 year-old victim was walking across Pacific Highway in a marked crosswalk when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle which was turning left from 72nd Ave. onto northbound Pacific Highway. Witnesses further indicated the suspect vehicle continued north on Pacific Highway and did not stop to render aid. Passers-by called 9-1-1. Tigard Police arrived on scene within minutes as well as emergency medical personnel. The victim was transported trauma by ground to OHSU. His condition is unknown. Approximately 20 minutes after the initial report of the incident, the suspect approached a Tigard Police Officer near the scene and identified himself as the driver. The suspect, 55 year-old Roger Le Doux of Portland was arrested at the scene and charged with Felony Hit and Run and Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk. Le Doux was lodged in the Washington County Jail. |
